A denture is a removable dental appliance that is custom made to replace missing teeth. There are two types of dentures—complete and partials.

We use complete dentures when a patient loses all their teeth on the upper or lower arch or both. A full denture uses the natural bony ridges of your jaw and suction for stability.

A partial denture fills in for sporadic tooth loss and depends on clips and the support of neighboring teeth for stability.

Immediate Dentures for Your Smile

For a conventional denture, we allow 4 to 6 weeks for healing after tooth removal. However, this does not mean that you have to go without teeth during these weeks. Ask your Lansing, MI dentist about an immediate denture.

These are made in advance and are immediately placed after the removal of the teeth. As the tissue heals and shrinks, we make adjustments to the immediate denture, so it fits your smile across the healing weeks.

The Denture Process

The denture process takes multiple appointments. The dentist will take several impressions of your mouth and measurements to create the denture. We also provide an appointment to try in a wax model to ensure proper shape, fit, and color. We then make any adjustments before making the denture.

At the final appointment, we place the denture and make final adjustments to ensure that the fit is right and that you are comfortable and confident in the wear and care of the denture.
